Nilla Box Card Set & Mini album Series #6

Hi Everyone,

Ok I am having way too much fun with these cards, with this DCWV Bella Boutique/La Creme paper line, and with these Retro Sketches.  So yes I have another one to share.  Now I know I originally said there were 5 cards in this series but I had to add another one.

What a great layout for a card. So simple and easily interpreted.  Yeah I think this is going into my "go to" collection.  Super Duper Simple.  A ribbon, some butterflies, and a sentiment and a card is made.  This is a great quickie card sketch for those last minute occasions.  Mine just happens to be intended as a sympathy card but I will make another one and it is going in this set.

So there you have it, Card #6.  I may add another card and if I do I will share it but I think this will wrap up this series and bring us back to the CAS series. I have just a few more cards to share with that one as well.

So until next time..

Kelli

SOC - Celebrating Lawn and Garden Month

Hi Everyone,

Among the many holidays we celebrate in May, we also celebrate Lawn and Gardens this month.  Now I have been on a mission to only use what is in my stash and if you are anything like me I am sure that you have so many flowers you could probably start your own botanical garden.  Well I am putting my flower stash to work for me with this set of cards.

On some kraft card stock I wrapped peach ribbon and some hemp cord.  Next I made a bow using the hemp cord and glued it down.  Then I glued one of the flowers from a set of 4 I found in the Michael's $1.50 bin. Finally I added some flatback pearls and stamped a sentiment and that was it.  Four beautiful note cards that would be great to give as a gift or use when you need a last minute card.

I love how these cards came out and since I have lots of different colors of these flowers guess what I'm gonna do?

So there you have four quick cards, using our stash, and celebrating a holiday all at the same time.  I hope this inspires you to take a stroll through your Botanical stash and see what you can do.

Until next time..

Kelli

Nilla Box Card Set & Mini album Series #5

Hi Everyone,

Today we are rounding out the 5 cards in this series and getting reading for the mini album.  I noticed another Retro Sketch that I thought would work well with the DCWV Bella Boutique/La Creme paper lines I am using.  I have a 12x12 paper pad for each of these collections and I am doing my best to use it up. Any who, I came across sketch #163 and thought it would be perfect.  Here is the card..

I backed all the patterned paper with black card stock, tied a ribbon and then stamped a sweet sentiment from MFT (My Favorite Things) and viola, I was done.  These sketches really make good looking cards and come together so fast.  And the flocking of the paper line really adds to the beauty of the cards; too bad the camera doesn't pick it up.

I did take a lil Wink-of-Stella and went over the sentiment just to give it a lil umpf.

And there you have it, Card #5.  Next I will be sharing with you the mini album in this Box Set and the box itself.

So until next time..

Nilla Box Card Set & Mini album Series #4

Morning Everybody,

Okay two things, 1) I am falling in love with these Retro Sketches and 2) I ADORE how this card came out!!

I do have intentions to send this card out to someone which is why I stamped a sentiment but I will make another one of these cards to include in this Nilla box set.

Oh my I love this card!  I backed all the paper with black card stock and tied a sheer black ribbon around the front.  I used a butterfly punch in lieu of rhinestones, which I think makes this card, and then stamped my sentiment and I was done.  So easy, so elegant, and WOW.  Now I could probably go over the butterflies with a lil' wink of stella but I think Im gonna keep it just as is.

So there you have it, card #4 in my Nilla Box series.  I will see you all on Monday for card #5; Have a great weekend everybody!!

Until next time...

Kelli

Nilla Box Card Set & Mini album Series #3

Hi Everyone,

Today we are on to card #3 in this series.  And I found a sketch that I thought was so pretty by Retro Sketches that I had to use it.  Im also using the DCWV Bella Boutique/La Creme stack for this series.
So here is my card...

I didn't have a rounded doily so I used my paper punch for the background "doily" and to make the tab on the diamond patterned paper.  I outlined all the papers with a black Copic and used a Mini Spellbinders die for the sentiment area.  I left the sentiment area blank on this one as well but I think this would be a nice card for a graduate.  I think I will add some ivory pearls in the bottom left to finish it off as well.

What do you think, Pearls or No Pearls?

I didn't round the edges in this photo but I will go back and round them out too.

And there you have it, that's my card for today.  I will have card #4 to share with you on Friday.

So until next time..

Nilla Box Card Set & Mini album Series #2

Hi Everybody,

So today I am sharing card #2 in my Nilla Box Set.  While looking on Pinterest I came across this layout by Yana Smakula and loved it!!!  Now my fishtails are a bit wider and more spread out but I was using my scraps and trying not to cut anything, lol.  I really do like how it turned out.

Now keeping on my mission of using up all my paper stash and not buying anything new, I am using a combination of DCWV Bella Boutique and La Creme stacks and the sticker/punch outs that accompany the collections. These collections are so similar with just a few sheets that differ between them.

I left an area for the sentiment again on this card.  If I decide to give this set away I will put a sentiment on it, which means I might have to go shopping for new sentiments or just search through my stash

So there you have it.  Two cards shared, three more cards to go plus a mini album. I am really having a lot of fun with my "No Buy-Use Stash" challenge.

Until next time...

Nilla Box Card Set & Mini album Series #1

Hi Everybody,

So I am going to take a step back from my CAS series (don't worry I will return) and I am going to share a new series for a Card/Mini album box I am working on. This box set will contain 5 cards and a mini album.  So this series will show the cards and the mini.

This series is entitled the Nilla Box Card Set & Mini Album because I altered a Nilla cookie box to create the project. If you are not sure what Nilla cookies are here is a pic of the box.

They are hubby's favorite cookie and I have a few boxes that I didn't part with once the cookies were gone.

First up in the series is card #1.  I haven't added the sentiment yet as Im not sure what to use.  This layout can lend itself to so many possibilities - Thank you, Thinking of You, Sympathy...

I followed a sketch by Studio Calico and used papers from the Bella Boutique/La Creme stack by DCWV (keeping inline with using my stash and not purchasing anything new - which keeps getting harder btw). I matted each banner with black card stock, added some sheer black ribbon, black rhinestones and that was it.  A super cute card that would look great with any paper line!!

Question for you all:  What type of sentiment do you think I should use?

So there you have it.  Card #1 in this Nilla Box Card & Mini Album Series.  I will see you all next time with Card #2 in this new series.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Kelli

CAS Card Series #5

Hi Everyone,

Here is yet another Mother's Day(MD) Card. I think I made 5 in total so I have two more MD cards to share.  Forgive the pics it was midnight when I finished the cards and I was super tired and had to get up in 4 hours to go to work the next day.

This one is just like the blue one I last posted but in pink and portrait instead of landscape.  Which one do you like better?  I did add a little Clear Wink of Stella to some of the butterflies.

So there you have it, yet another Mother's day quickie card.

CAS Card Series #4

Hi Everybody,

Im back with another Mother's Day Card. This one is for my Grandma.  This was an idea I had floating in my head. I'm sure someone may have done it before but it was new to me.

I love the simplicity of this card and the color combo.  And yes there are a lot of things that I could have done with it but for a woman who is 89, doesn't have a lot of space in her new smaller apt, and may not keep the card, it was perfect. Oh, and I used those Paint sample sheets for the butterfly colors which is how I got the perfect gradient shades.

So there you have, a super simple CAS card.

Until next time.

CAS Card Series #3 for Mother's Day

Hi Everybody,

So I have been posting my CAS Card Series each Monday but I wanted to share this one before Mother's day in case you are looking for inspiration of some kind for a last minute card.

I was inspired by the paper and when I saw the butterflies I knew I had to use it to make a Mother's day for my Mom from her grand-daughter. I did however change the sentiment from "Mom" to "I Love You" because Grandma wouldn't fit. LOL.

This card was inspired by a layout from Retro Sketches.  Isn't it a sweet layout?!

But all in all I think it came out pretty cute. I followed a layout by Retro Sketches (my new fav) Link down below and I tried the Wink of Stella pens. I used the clear one on the rose and butterflies and yeah (another new fav).

I can see getting into a lot of trouble with these pens. So there you have it. One of my Mother's Day cards this year.

So until next time.

CAS Card Series #2

Hi Everybody,

So since Bekah has been born (the last 9mo - crazy right) my crafting life has basically consisted of everything cards, specifically thank you cards.  I have sent out Thank you cards, Christmas cards, Dedication cards, and now I preparing to send out Thank you dedication cards.  I wish someone would have told me how many cards I would be making before I gave birth so I could have gotten a jump start on things instead of feeling like I am playing catch up.

I have gone through 3 different card designs and that is where my project today comes in.  To me, this may be the simplest of the three designs I have created and my fav.  I love that I have only used my scraps from the DCWV Preppy Princess stack and did not have to buy anything.

I saw a card, on Pinterest no less, that I really liked the layout and scrap lifted it a bit. The original card I saw was from Vicky at Crafting Clares Paper Moments http://craftingclare.blogspot.jp/2013/01/a-bloomin-marvellous-christmas.html.  This became the inspiration for my cards.

First I cut my card bases, A2 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 out of white card stock.  Then I cut a smaller piece of card stock 4 1/8 x 5 3/8" that I glued the design to.  Cut some strips of the DCWV paper and cut the ends like a banner/fishtail.  I added a ribbon and my sentiment.  And finally I outlined the outside of the card and the sentiment with my Copic Rll Pale Cherry Pink marker.

I cut another smaller piece of card stock and went around the edges with the R11 marker and them stamped a heart on some of the cards and a baby hand in the bottom right corner of the others.

What's great about these cards is you can use your scrap pieces from those paper collections you have sitting around.  Well maybe not you, but I know I have those pieces.

So there you have it everyone, I am prayerfully just about through with these thank yous and I should probably start working on the next set of thank yous that will be coming up,  "birthday thanks".  Maybe I will just work on thank you cards now, that will take her through her teen years. ;)

Until next time...
