Mother's Day Card Challenge

Happy Resurrection Sunday/Easter,

I pray you are enjoying your holiday.  I don't want to take up too much of your time but I wanted to share with you a card that I am submitting for a card challenge using the colors purple, green, blue and white for Mary at Cardz TV: www.cardztv.blogspot.com

I wanted to make a fun and cute card using one of the cricut cartridges I have so I used the Paper Doll Dress Up cart. and cut the Super Girl on page 57.  I cut her and her accessories at 3 inches and then chalked the edge of her cape and boots.  I used the Schoolbook cart. and cut the star that I stamped the sentiment on at 4 inches.  The green mat is from DCWV.

I think she came out really cute.  : )  I typed the sentiment on the computer using the Monotype Corsiva and Vivaldi fonts.  The inside verse reads, "For all the super things that you so!  Happy Mother's Day."

Thank you Mary for this challenge.  I really wasn't sure how to use the colors for this card but I am pleased with final result.

Thanks for stopping by everyone!  Happy Resurrection Sunday/ Happy Easter!!!  Eat some chocolate for me.  :)

Thank God for Paper

Hi All,

Today I thought I would share with you some thoughts I had about paper.  :)

Whenever I am feeling down
I can always count on paper.
Paper has always been there for me
through thick and thin.
With every bright, cheery color and
beautiful pattern, they all seem to share
their happiness with me. Even the darkest of
dark paper seems joyful and exciting in some way.
Paper gets my mind off of me and makes me say,
"Paper, what can I do for you today?" To which
the paper kindly replies, "Turn me into something beautiful."
It is as I begin this transformation process that my spirit is lifted.
Somewhere along the way a smile appears on my face.
It is the combination of colors, patterns and embellishments together
that remind me of others.
Others that may be going through a hardship and need a smile.
Others that I may have forgotten about momentarily, that warrant a quick hello.
Others that need help crying over a situation.
Others that share with me my fondest memories and even still
others that want to share with me their triumphs and achievements.
Paper helps remind me of all the loved ones in my life.
Paper reminds me just how much I care for them and how
Blessed I am to have them in my life.
How blessed I am not to be in a destitute situation;
what a privilege it is to pray for those that are and to help them in their trials and pain.
How truly blessed I am to be able to sit here and write about
how something as simple as paper,
the very object I use to express my frustrations,
is the same tool that is used to change my mood.
What a blessing paper is.
Thank God for paper and all its creative uses.

New Digi Stamps

Hi Everyone,

I am so excited!!  Why, you ask?  Well the first round of the Passion Stamps by Favorite Favors are here!! YAY!!!!!!

There are 5 stamps that have been completed and ready to use.  You can find them in the Etsy store at www.favor8favors.etsy.com or click on the box to the left to go straight to the store.  All the images have been hand drawn and then digitally turned into stamps.  I think these characters have such personality!  The first 5 are:

1) Flora Flower

2) Karla Kitty
3) Parisian Paulette

4) Preacher Paul

5) Umbrella Jim (Shown in the picture).  I couldn't resist using him!  I made this card for a dear friend for his birthday.  The inside sentiment reads, "May the Lord continue to shower you with His abundant blessings."

The colors are much more vibrant but the camera didn't want to behave nicely.

I would love to hear your feedback!  Please leave a comment and tell me what you think.  :D

One Sheet Mini Album - 11x17

Greetings Friends,

I pray you are all doing well this Sunday.  This blog will be a quick tutorial on how to make a Mini Scrapbook Album using one sheet of paper.  If you saw the video about this album on YouTube then these pictures and measurements might be a little clearer for you.  So let's get started.  The card stock for this album size comes in a variety of colors and can be found at your local office supply store or purchased online at www.paperandmore.com.  Including the shipping charge, this is best place for the best deal on this paper that I have found on the internet.

For this project you will need:
~An 11"x17" piece of card stock (at least one sheet to start; you can add more)
~1 pair of scissors or a paper cutter
~1 hole punch or binding method
  ~2 binding rings
  ~Strong adhesive
  ~Patterned paper and embellishments

Step one:
With the card stock in front you horizontally, fold the card stock in half and then fold the half in half again on each side until your paper looks like an accordion.  Each block should measure 11" long x 4 1/4" high.

Step two:
Cut the entire piece in half so that you end up with two pieces that measure L: 5 1/2" x H: 4 1/4".

Step Three:
Using just one of the center rectangles, apply your favorite, strong, adhesive along one edge and along the peak fold.  I used 1/2" adhesive tape with the ATG but you can use 1/4" adhesive.  If you have the red, terrifically tacky tape that would work well too.  And then fold shut.  {Note: the size tape you use will determine how wide you can make your tags}.

Step Four:
Along the sealed edge, from the center to the open end, cut a 1/2" gutter.  The gutter is where your binding will go in the next step.  Now cut along the fold line up to the cut that you just made. Your project should now look like this.

Step Five:
Fold your flaps back down and cut your holes for binding.  Since I don't have a Bind-It-All I used a standard hole punch and some binder rings.

Step Six:
Add your patterned paper/card stock, pictures, and embellishments.

***Optional:
You can leave your album as is and use the top fold as a cover or add a piece of chipboard as a cover. The chipboard should measure 5 3/4"L x 4 1/2"H.  If you don't have chipboard, take two pieces of card stock and glue them together.  Once you add your patterned paper these pieces will be really thick like a piece of chipboard.  Don't forget to punch your holes. :D

Step Seven:
Cut two pieces of card stock, patterned paper, or a combination of both that measures 5"L x 3 1/2"H. Glue the pieces together and this will become your tag.  Embellish your tag to fit your project.  You can use them for journaling spots or for more pictures.

Step Eight:
   Enjoy your mini album!!!  {To add more pages repeat steps 1-7}

I pray that you enjoyed this tutorial and that your crafting would be ever so much fun!  I would love to see what designs that you produce so feel free to email pictures to favor8favors@gmail.com or post them to the Facebook Fan page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Favorite-Favors/243306466963 and I will be sure to share them with everyone.

Happy Scrapping! :D

FINALLY, IT'S MINE!! :D

Salutations Everyone!

IT'S HERE!  IT'S HERE!  IT'S HERE!

Finally, it's here!  My Scotch ATG 700 adhesive gun of course.  After searching for over a year; scouring the Internet and price checking loads of stores, waiting for prices to drop, I finally found the gun that I had been dreaming about.  Literally dreaming about.  I have created so many projects with this gun in my head.  I even watched YouTube videos on how to use it so that when I actually got the gun I would know how to use it.  I felt just like a kid waiting for that special Christmas gift.

There are so many great ATG guns out there that I could've gotten ranging in price from $5 - $25 but I chose the ATG 700 instead.  Yes, it is priced higher than the others but it has one feature that the others do not.  With a small adapter, this gun can be used with 1/4", 1/2" and 3/4" adhesive.  The other guns allow for 1/4" adhesive alone or 1/2" and 3/4" adhesive combined.  None of the others, that I have seen, can do all 3 except this one.

This particular gun retails at about $50, give or take a little depending on where you buy.  But I am true comparative shopper and I have to search for the best price on any major purchase before I buy.  Call me thrifty, frugal, cheap - whatever.  All I know is that I have gotten some really great deals and super finds that way.  And I save money; whose not about saving money.  And my husband knows that I will find the best deal before I purchase which makes him feel a lot better. He knows I am not going to just buy anything.

I found this gun, believe it or not, on eBay.  Now if you are not familiar with eBay I will tell you that it is an auction site.  Things go up on eBay and people bid on them.  But there are items that you can purchase on there instantaneously.  You can do this on items that have a "Buy It Now" option.  This beautiful gun had that option.  The listing was for just the gun at $25 - well $24.95 + $5 for shipping.  So I bought this gun for under $30.  I found the adhesive on eBay too.  Three rolls of tape for $11.49 + free shipping.  That is a fabulous find.

There are lots of great deals like this on eBay. You just have to watch and be patient.  If the deal that you are looking for is not there, wait a few days and check back again later, it will show up.

I have a few mini album tutorials that I am working on, I am anxious to show you, and the digital paper is just about ready to be released.  Sooo, I will chat with you soon.  Until then everybody!!  :D
