My 25 Days of Christmas Challenge! Day 12

Hi

I participated in a card swap over at Scraps of Color.  The theme of the card swap was 'blessings' and the interpretation was up to us.  I loved this swap.  I has a blessings stamp that I have been wanting to use for some time now.  Here is my creation.

I used the Marcella by K&Company blue and ivory pad.  This collection has silver foil on some of the papers and is really beautiful.  You can see some of the foil on the flowers in the pictures.  I added a flourish that I stenciled on and then embellished with dots of DecoArt Twinkles in silver and then added blue silk flowers to the corner.  I'm really pleased with the way these card came out - it's simple but elegant to me.

What I used...
~DecoArt Twinkles
~K&Company Paper
~Rubber Stamp

My 25 Days of Christmas Challenge! Day 11

Hi Everyone,

My day 11 project is based on a swap that I am hosting on Scraps of Color.  The Shared Christmas Mini Swap consists of 4 groups of 4 people who will create a mini scrapbook page, out of 8x8 chipboard, for each member of the group including themselves. The theme is Christmas and the style - vintage, non/traditional - is up to the designer.  There also had to be a minimum of 2 tags for journaling.  Since I am not just the host but a participant, here are my pages for my group members.

My 25 Days of Christmas Challenge! Day 10

Hello Crafty Creators!

You know, I don't think I use my Cricut nearly enough.  I only have about 5 cartridges in total but there is so much I can do with just the ones I have.  This leads me to my Day 10 creation...

So I found magnets at a Thrift store near by.  In a plastic bag there were about 45 strong magnets that had pictures of Oregon taken in the 70s.  When I saw them I knew I was going to make this Nativity project.  I created a simple scene using scrap paper and card stock that I had and I used the cereal boxes that I had saved so this project cost maybe $5 total.  And I can make nearly 45 magnets to send out in my Christmas cards.  Love this project!!

What I used...
~Scrap DCWV paper
~Recollections card stock
~Magnets
~DecoArt Twinkles Glitter Paint
~Studio G ink

Thanks for stopping by and I will see you on the next project!!

My 25 Days of Christmas Challenge! Day 9

Hi Guys!

I am at Day 9 of my 25 Days of Christmas Challenge.  This is a page of a 5 page mini album that I made for Krafthead at http://krafthead1.blogspot.com/.  We did a swap between the two of us and I had a ball making this album.  I don't want to spoil the whole album for her yet and post the whole thing so I will only show one page for now.  I used decorative paper/gift bags to make this album.  Okay, here it is...

I have not seen anyone using a bag in this fashion but I really like this method and it opens up the playing field on the types of bags you can use.  Now, this is just one side of this bag, the reverse side is also decorated but again I don't want to spoil it for her.

Instead of using the bag on its side and altering the direction of the bag pattern I pulled out the gusset, folded it on itself and then glued it down for a strong spine.  I love how this came out because it gave me a huge pocket to mat a large family photo or 4-5 3x5 or 4x6 photos or  tons of smaller ones.  With this method there is tons of space to create on.

I hand placed all the pearls and created a 5 page fold out for lots of photos on this page.  At the very top of the page you will see a green polka-dotted tag that spans the width of the bag.

Once she received the album I will post a video of the album and how I made it.

What I used..
~Recollections card stock
~Studio G ink
~Flatback white pearls
~Sheer ribbon
~Making Memories Holiday paper
~Silver eyelets

Until next time...

My 25 Days of Christmas Challenge! Day 8

Hi Guys,

Here we are at the Day 8 project.  For this project I made snowmen out of microwave popcorn and socks.

These five are for my co-workers: four women and one man.  I think they came out kinda cute.  The socks I found at the dollar store.  The ribbon I had in my stash and I hand drew each face.  The idea was not originally mine.  It came from a YouTube video I saw by JewelsPaperJewels http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6gJvPSNBJ4.  Love this idea!

Until next time...

A Small Set Back

Hi Everyone,

I am sorry that I have not posted in a few days, I had a small set back.  On Monday after I left the office, walking to the bus, I did not see but stepped on a hole in the road and twisted my right ankle.  So I have been crafting but I was unable to get any photos taken.  So, now that I am back on my feet (lol) I will take pictures and post them all this weekend.

So until then...

My 25 Days of Christmas Challenge! Day 6

Hi Again Everybody!!

Wow Day 6 and I am on a roll and getting into the swing of things.  I think I am really liking my Day 6 card the most.  I love swirls/flourish and flowers and bling/glitter together in any combination or arrangement.  So here is my card.

The paper had the design on it originally and what I did was to add the sheer ivory and maroon ribbon. The I stamped the gift box in brown ink onto tan card stock, adhered two layers of foam tape on the back and placed the image over the knot.  I added the pearls one by one in the swirl pattern; with a gold glitter pen I outlined some of the flourish and drew on the gold corners, then I added the silk flowers.

Lastly, I colored in the holly on the image added some more gold accents to the present.  All in all I am very happy with the end result.

What I used:

-Champagne flat back pearls
-Ivory and Maroon sheer ribbon
-Gold glitter pen
-Silk flowers
-Studio G image
-Studio G brown ink

Thanks for stopping by for Day 6 and I will see you back again tomorrow on Day 7.  Have a great day!!!

My 25 Days of Christmas Challenge! Day 5

Hi Everyone,

Happy Monday to you all.   Day 5 of the challenge brings about a card that I need you help with. I love this paper and don't want to cover the scene too much but it needs something more in my opinion.  What do you think; any suggestions?

I did add some twinkles to the snowflakes, the star and the the snow on the ground.   I was thinking a ribbon and a sentiment on the front but not sure what.

So what do you suggest?

What I used:

-K&Company Mat pad
-Recollections card stock
-DecoArt Twinkles

Until tomorrow...

My 25 Days of Christmas Challenge! Day 4

Happy Sunday!!

Welcome to Day 4 of my 25 Days of Christmas challenge.  Today's project is my second card of the season and I must say I had a lot of fun making this card.  Have any of you read the meaning behind the candy cane, aka "The Candy Cane Story"?  If you have never read the story then you can read it below.  I have always loved the candy cane story and thought I would incorporate it into a card.  Here is what I created:

The title has a bubble in it for dimension.

I added a spin feature to the card to bring the story to life in the card.  The candy cane stamp turns to change the cane into a 'J' for Jesus.  A red brad in the center of the ribbon helps it to spin.  I popped the candy cane and the red and white mats behind it with foam tape.

I printed the story from the Internet.

Here is the story...

If you can't read the small print of the picture then you can follow the link, http://www.kidtokid.org/candycanestory.html, and read it.

What I used:

-Making Memories Holiday Paper pack
-Queen & Co. black rhinestones
-Nicole Craft green rhinestones
-Studio G ink
-Studio G candy cane stamp
-Recollections card stock
-Cricut Home Decor Cartridge

So here is my Day 4 project.  Please let me know what you think.  And I will see you all in a little bit for Day 5.  Thanks for spending some time with me.

Blog with ya later.

My 25 Days of Christmas Challenge! Day 2

Hi everyone,

So here we are on Day 2 of my 25 day challenge.  Today I decided to get organized for the Christmas season and made a Shopping List/To Do/Photo Holder/Memory Minder/ Coupon-Receipt Holder.  I know, it's a lot for one organizer to do.  There are two flaws in my organizer but hey, it is for me and even with all its imperfections I wouldn't want it any other way.  Here is the front of the organizer:

Up close and personal...  I had a little trouble figuring out how far out I wanted my fold.

I really like the holly accents...

All the tags are green polka-dotted on the front and striped on the back...

The back of the organizer and the pocket...

The tags fit the same on the back as on the front...
The pockets on the front are for the receipts from any gifts I purchase and I plan on using the pockets on the back for my coupons when I go grocery shopping for Christmas dinner.  On the tags I will put my lists; grocery, to-do/errands, and gift list (this way I know next year what I got people this year and I won't repeat the gift).  On the mats I will put the pics I take when Hubs and I go shopping.  Since we have nephews we stop in the toy department and play a little bit.  It's our way of capturing the good younger days and it also sparks a memory from our childhood that I record and keep so we can tell our kids the stories of "When I was your age..."  I will probably make some journaling tags once I have the pics and slip the tags behind them.

What I used to make this organizer...

-1 Manila file folder folded in 3rd's and 1 for the tags
-Studio G pigment ink for the edges
-Offray Ribbon
-Nicole Crafts Green Glitter stickers
-Recollections Bright and Jolly Paper Pad

This was a really easy and super simple, simple fast project!  I can't wait to fill it up.

Well guys that is all for today. I will share with you all tomorrow Day 3s project.  Thanks again for stopping by and spending some time with me.

Until next tomorrow... I pray you all are staying warm where you are 'cause it's really cold here!!

My 25 Days of Christmas Challenge! Day 1

Happy December everyone!!

It is December first and the start of a lot of great things.  The Countdown to Christmas starts, for song shopping begins, for others the arrival of an awaited birthday to look forward to.  But for me, a challenge for myself.  I am challenging myself to a 25 Days of Christmas challenge.  From now until Christmas I am going to make and blog about 25 craft projects.  Since I don't normally blog everyday this is going to be a serious challenge, but one I think I can handle. So here is my first project.  Altered Composition Books that are actually for a swap that I participated in at Scraps of Color:

Book one is a beautiful brown embossed paisley that I paired with white ribbon, a white silk gardenia, purple roses, little blue flowers, and a white dogwood bloom. To embellish further I added brown flat-back pearls, white feathers that I inked with brown ink and a little sparkle swirl.  A white satin ribbon is what I used to cover the spine.

Composition Book #2
Book Two is an ivory embossed floral design that I added brown satin ribbon to frame the ivory antique trim.  I added more white flowers that I inked brown, some more brown flat-back pearls, white daisies, little cream flowers and the white dogwood blooms.  I added a cream, sheer, shimmery ribbon for a little sparkle.  A brown satin ribbon cover the spine.

Composition Book #3
Book three is a matted brown and pink rose pattern that I added the white feathers inked in pink, & pink and champagne flat-back pearls. I hand drew a sparkle flourish along the spine.  Then I took silk flower petals, inked the edges and hot glued them together to create a base that the flower cluster sits upon.  I also inked the pink and ivory roses to help them stand out and give them a wilting look.  If you look close you can see the little white daisies.  The ribbon edge is a piece of antique lace that I placed a brown ribbon on and then a white scalloped edge, sheer ribbon on top of the brown.

The objective was to make 3 books all the same or as close to the same as possible.  I had a hard time finding a paper pack, that I especially liked, that had three of the same designer paper within.  And I soo, fell in love with K&Company's "Julianne" 12x12 paper collection.  So to try and keep within the guidelines I made each book with the same design.  Each book is stamped and signed on the back.

I had a ball making these books!!!  I know that I will make some more for myself since these were for swapping.  They really would make some fantastic Christmas gifts. Hmmmm.....  So let me know what you think.  I love reading your comments.  Thanks for spending some time here with me.  I can't wait to see what tomorrow's creation is.

What I used:
-K&Company "Julianne" Specialty Paper
-DecoArt Twinkles
-Offray Ribbon and Antique Lace from an estate sale
-Feathers from Joann's
-Flat-back pearls
-Silk flowers
-Studio G pigment ink pads
-Studio G stamps
-Recollections Champagne pearl cluster

Until next time, Keep creating!!!
