Father's Day Cards

Happy June!!!

So we are almost halfway through the year, can you believe it?  June marks the start of Summer, lots of fun, and of course Father's Day. I decided to get a head start on my cards. Here are three cards for the Father's that are closest to Hubs and I.

This one is for our dearest friend.  The white card stock is from Staples.  Why Staples, because when I started scrapping I didn't know about all the paper companies out there and since I went to Staples to get office supplies, I knew they would have the cardstock there.  It was bonus that it's acid & lignin free.  The black card stock if from my stash o' scraps.  The red mat base is from Autumn Leaves - Carefree Autumn Collection.  The digital image, "Cross Carrying Calvin", is from Favorite Favors (yay).  He is on sale right now for June in honor of Father's Day.  The brads are from Making Memories.  I colored the image using black, gray and white colored pencils.  The sentiment is also by Favorite Favors; I handwrote the sentiment on this card.  The sentiment reads, "The love of the Father was displayed through the Son".

This card is for one of Hub's best friend.  Made just like the one above using the same products.  The only thing differect in this one is the choice of mat designs but it's part of the same Carefree Autumn collection, and the sentiment is stamped.  I really like the way these cards came out.

This last card is for my Father-In-Law.  Again the white cardstock used is from Staples.  I used DCWV for the blue flourish mat and the striped paper.  The brown ribbon, which is from Offray is actually covering a metallic silver scalloped strip of cardstock because Hubs thought that the scalloped edge looked too girly.  I thought is looked great!!  But after I thought about it and started playing around with different things, I actually liked the brown ribbon better.  He thought the brown ribbon, actually ribbon in general is girly, no matter how you use it.  I totally disagree.  What's your take on ribbon use?

The image, Umbrella Jim, is by Favoite Favors.  I also used brown eyelets from Making Memories and my white Bic jelly roll pen.  The brown circle mat I cut with my Cricut at 3 1/2" and used cardstock from Best Occassions via Walmart.  The sentiment inside the card and the "Happy Father's Day" were printed on the computer.  The wording on the inside sentiment which reads, "May the goodness of the Lord rain down on you", is from Favorite Favors.  I colored Jim using blue, green and brown colored pencils.

So there you have it. These cards will be in the mail between today and tomorrow for an early arrival.

Thank you for spending time with me, I really appreciate it!!  Please let all the wonderful Dad's out there know that they are loved and appreciated & let them know I said "Happy Father's Day".

Sorry I have not been around lately, between my computer acting up and thing being so hectic here, I have not had much time to leave comment on my favorite blogs.

I love both of your cards, the image with him carrying the cross is so nice and coloring him in greys looks so wonderful.

The little boy is adorable and your coloring of him is perfect.
