SOC Project and CAS Card Series #1

Hi Everybody,

For todays card I was inspired by May being Lawn and Garden month and by those $1.50 flowers you find in the Michael's bins.  I have packs of these cards in various colors and I have been on a mission to use up my stash and not purchasing anything new minus adhesive.  So far I have been doing pretty good; for this card I did not purchase anything new.

The idea for the layout of simple card came as I was sitting at work and I quickly drew it out so that I could work on it later.  I love it!  It is exactly how I saw it and even quicker and easier to make.

Love, love, love this card. SO simple, quick and this starts off my CAS (clean and simple) Card series. Love when things come together.

This is an A2 size card (4.25 x 5.5), I outlined card stock mats with the Y23 Copic marker. I wasn't trying to get the edges exact, I actually like the uneven look of the border.  Then I layered the flowers and some twine onto the lace trim and added my sentiment from my Amy R "Many Thanks" rubber stamp set and I was done. I can't wait to make more of these. You can never have too many thank you cards on hand.

Birthday Card Series #2

Hi Everyone,

So here is card #2 in my Birthday Series.  For this card I chose another Melonheadz stamp and paired it with the Basic Grey Oliver collection.  This is how the card turned out.

 

I decided to go with a more mascuine birthday card since, it seems, I never have enough of them. I also chose to use an MFT (My Favorite Things) sketch for the layout of the card.

I have found that masculine cards tend to be very simple in design and the for this card, the layout and paper line worked perfectly.

I colored him up using my Copic markers and struggled not to put and glitter on the package.  A difficult feat, trust me.  But in the end he looks really cut without any glitter.  I backed him on kraft card stock and that was the end. Quick and simple.  Looking back I might have chosen to ink the edges of the paper, especially the light colored paper. I will definitely keep that in might for the next card.

So there you have it. Card #2.

Practical Scrapper DT Project - Birthday Cards

Hi Everybody,

I have been in such a mood to create birthday cards lately so this project was right on time.  So when I saw that the challenge for Practical Scrappers was birthdays I was in heaven!  This card is also going to be the start of my "birthday card" series.

So let me show you my card and then I'll tell you what I did.

First I started with an image.  So I chose a Birthday Party image from Melonheadz Illustrating (I love her images) and I colored her up using Copic Markers.  I had crystal glitter glue and gave her sparkly shoes, hat, and dress.

I also used the Deconstructing Jen sketch #125 but instead of using the sketch as a portrait sketch I turned it on it's side and used it as a landscape.  I am really pleased with how the card came out.  

I added some gray flat back pearls to the card just to give it that extra Umpf and then I embossed the Happy Birthday sentiment and that was all she made.  Just as a suggestion you may wanna go over to the Practical Scrappers blog and check out he other fantastic cards cards the DT created. You can never have enough birthday cards.

So this is the first Happy Birthday card.  I am not sure how many will be in this series but I'm having fun in the process.

Paper Bag Mini Album Series - Family Fortier - Practical Scrapper Project

Hi Everybody,

Today projects serves as a double duty project, which I love!!  I had wanted to make a "step down" paper bag album.  So the first job of this project is that, this is #2 of my Paper bag series albums and the second job is a design team challenge for Practical Scrappers.  The challenge was to use tags.  I chose to use my tags as photo mats in this family album.

I used a Colorbok collection for the second of my Paper bag Mini Albums.  I love the "step" (this album type may have another name but this is what I am calling it.) look and wondered how it would look as a paper bag mini album.  In this album, one page is shorter than the other pages and creates a step effect.  So here is my creation minus the pictures.

I will add more embellishments once the pics have been added, but I love the idea of using the letters as pulls for the mats.  I can't wait to fill this baby up.  I had so much fun making this and I have another idea in mind for this type of album.  Anywho that is all for today.  I know it has been quite awhile since I have posted anything butI do have a good reason for that and I will share that information in a week or two.  Just need to confirm some information before I share it.  So, there you have it.

Flip Top Mini Album - Mini Album Monday #4

Hi Everybody,

The Mini Album Monday project I am sharing with you today was created from a tutorial from The Gentleman Crafter.  He made this Flip Top Mini Mini and I fell in love with it and had to try my hand at it.  This project was a great way for me to use the 6x6 packs of paper that I found in the Michael's bins. I have accumulated quite a nice supply and challenged myself to use the paper line and nothing else.  Fortunately for me I also had the greeting cards to match one of the Paula Dean paper lines.

So without further ado, here it is...

Isn't it Sweet!  Just like my dear friend to whom I am dedicating this album!  Now, I don't condone the statements made by Paula in her recent press, nor do I agree with it.  Proudly being a Woman of Color, I am disgusted in the comments that were made, however, I made this project before the news of this incident had come to light.  I still think the paper is beautiful and I will most likely add my final embellishments to this mini album and put it up for sale in my Etsy shop, Luv Unlimited.  100% of the proceed will go to the fight against cancer in memory one of my dearest friends who just lost her fight to cancer last week and loved Paula.  This is my way of honoring her memory.  Turning Tragedy into Triumph.

Okay before I start crying I am going to sign off.  My friend and I were very close.  She and I saw a lot of laughter and tears together and was a true Prayer Warrior, Woman of God, Beloved Mother, and a True Friend.  I miss her dearly.

Scallop Butterflies

Hi Everybody,

In keeping with the theme of scallops I made some more butterflies to embellish a thank you card for hubs to send out.  I think these are so super cute and an easy way to use the scraps and coordinate with the paper line.

I used the Colorbok Homespun collection, which I adore, some lace and a stamp and that it. Well minus  the flat-back pearls and photo corner.  I think it came out pretty cute.

Envelope Mini Album - Mini Album Monday #2

Hi Everybody,

I finished one the four Minis I have been working on simultaneously.  This is the second Mini for the Mini Album Monday that I am excited to show you.

You know it doesn't take a lot of money to make beautiful, simple, interactive albums to show off your memories.  All I used were some 6x9 envelopes (the cheap ones) from Staples and some $1/$1.50 paper and flowers from Michaels.  Lace was either given to me or found at the thrift store for pennies. All in all, with the embellies, paper, and envies I probably spent $15.  And with that money I can make 3 of these minis.  LOVE IT!!!  A great way to stretch a buck!

Okay, now here is where I inform you, WARNING - a boatload of pics are about to be seen.

And there you have it.  Super sweet, super simple, and super quick. All the die cut pieces I fussy cutted from the paper collection and pasted them to card stock.  And each page has photo corners to hold all the pic so should i give this away, the recipient can easily slip their photos in without having to purchase adhesive.
