Birthday Card Series #2

Hi Everyone,

So here is card #2 in my Birthday Series.  For this card I chose another Melonheadz stamp and paired it with the Basic Grey Oliver collection.  This is how the card turned out.

I decided to go with a more mascuine birthday card since, it seems, I never have enough of them. I also chose to use an MFT (My Favorite Things) sketch for the layout of the card.

I have found that masculine cards tend to be very simple in design and the for this card, the layout and paper line worked perfectly.

I colored him up using my Copic markers and struggled not to put and glitter on the package.  A difficult feat, trust me.  But in the end he looks really cut without any glitter.  I backed him on kraft card stock and that was the end. Quick and simple.  Looking back I might have chosen to ink the edges of the paper, especially the light colored paper. I will definitely keep that in might for the next card.

So there you have it. Card #2.

Ok everyone, I headed out to make some more cards.  So until next time....

Practical Scrapper DT Project - Birthday Cards

Hi Everybody,

I have been in such a mood to create birthday cards lately so this project was right on time.  So when I saw that the challenge for Practical Scrappers was birthdays I was in heaven!  This card is also going to be the start of my "birthday card" series.

So let me show you my card and then I'll tell you what I did.

First I started with an image.  So I chose a Birthday Party image from Melonheadz Illustrating (I love her images) and I colored her up using Copic Markers.  I had crystal glitter glue and gave her sparkly shoes, hat, and dress.

I also used the Deconstructing Jen sketch #125 but instead of using the sketch as a portrait sketch I turned it on it's side and used it as a landscape.  I am really pleased with how the card came out.

I added some gray flat back pearls to the card just to give it that extra Umpf and then I embossed the Happy Birthday sentiment and that was all she made.  Just as a suggestion you may wanna go over to the Practical Scrappers blog and check out he other fantastic cards cards the DT created. You can never have enough birthday cards.

So this is the first Happy Birthday card.  I am not sure how many will be in this series but I'm having fun in the process.

Thank you all so much for stopping by and I will see you next time.

Kelli

5 Card Friday - Month 2

Hi Everbody,

This is the second month of my 5 Card Friday.  These cards are created each month so that I will have a total of 60 cards to distribute in December for the Christmas season.  I was playing around with some KandCompany paper that I had and some stickers from another collection to create this first card.  This card is a stretch from my normal style but it is good for me to venture outside my comfort zone.

For the second card i chose to go ultra simple.  The simpler the better.  I saw the Noel stamp and wanted that to be the focus.

Then I found the digital designs of Meljen. They are so super cute and I knew when I saw them I had to use them!!

Addicted to Scrapbooking, All That Scraps & Happy-n-Scrappin Haul

Hi Everyone!

Whew vacation is hard work!  Well hard it's getting back into the routine of doing what I did before the vacation.  But none the less I'm here.  Hubs and I had a fabulous time together and I think we will have to start planning vacations more often, just the two of us.  I was able to get a lot of projects done, receive inspiration on lots of new stuff, and I have a "Thank You" theme that I have been gravitating to.  Being a follower of Christ I receive instructions on what type of projects to make from the Holy Spirit in my prayer time.  And right now Thank you cards, albums, gifts is what my focus is on.  So I will show you all what I am making soon.  But for right now I have some Haul stuff to present to you.  As most of you may know Addicted to Scrapbooking-Stamps-etc. has gone out of business.  :(   {I am really hurt by that}  But as painful as this is, I must admit that I got some great deals and fabulous finds from them...Here take a look.

I found all these mini stamps!  From left-right, "Butterfly Scroll" by Dimension Crafts #98874 - http://www.inkadinkadoo.com/, "Cottage Christmas Collection - Snowflakes" by Imaginisce #002332 - http://www.imaginisce.com/, "Small Giraffe" by Hot Off The Press #HOTP-1031 - http://www.paperpizazz.com/, "Birds Mini" by Inkadinkadoo #60-30239 - http://www.inkadinkadoo.com/ * http://www.eksuccessbrands.com/, "Love Birds Unm" by Queen Kat Designs #E-101-SJ - http://www.katstamps.com/, "In Bloom" by Scrappy Cat #SCR1017 - http://www.scrappycatonline.com/
I found the "Baby Sayings" by Me & My Big Ideas #STR-04 - http://www.meandmybigideas.com/!  I have had such a hard time finding these stickers.  So much so that I did scan the original that I had so I could print them out and use them again.  But I was in sheer delight when I saw these that I had to buy another pack.  I truly believe in supporting vendors and buying or going the bootleg route.  The "Best Friends" by Penny Black Stickeroos #10-026 was a free gift with my order.  LOVE free stuff, don't you.
From All That Scraps - http://www.allthatscraps.com/ I went wild and purchased all these Color Box stamp pads.  At $1.19 per stamp I had to stop myself.  But I picked up Atlantic Blue, Cape Cod, Lavender, Lettuce, Golf Course, Shabby Pink and ream White.

From Happy-n-Scrappin, my new favortie online store, I picked up three packs of paper (2 double-sided) and one single sheet.  First we have "Ooh La La" by My Minds Eye #OLL122 - It comes with 9 double-sided cardstock paper and 1 coordinating accessory sheet; I just love the colors. Next is the Grandma's Kitchen collection - "Precious Paisley" by We R Memory Keepers - http://www.weronthenet.com/; I love the sparkles on the paper. And then I got the "Andrea Victoria" collection by My Mind's Eye - http://www.mymindseye.com/ - it also comes with 9 double-sided cardstock paper and 1 coordinating accessory sheet.  And lastly I picked up the "Life Stories" collection by My Mind's Eye - http://www.mymindseye.com/.  I think the cardstocks are perfect for a family album.  Here are some up close shots.

So that is all for now.  I am excited to start creating with these collections.

So until next time!

Kelli
